How to classify engineering qualifi cations for quality?

Abstract

• In the academic year 2004/2005 
the Spanish National Agency 
for Quality Assessment and 
Accreditation (ANECA) has 
established a procedure for 
evaluating both teaching and 
institutions by means of the 
Institutional Assessment Programme. 
This programme is organized in 
three stages: Self-Assessment, 
External Assessment and Plan for 
improvement. This paper analyzes 
the external assessment phase 
for qualifi cations in the fi eld 
of Industrial Engineering inside 
the Spanish University System. 
To achieve this, we propose a 
Decision Supports System whose 
employment may obtain a classifi er 
of qualifi cations and, in any case, 
provides information to aid strategic 
decision making on the institutions 
involved
