Abstract

After the review of some basic concepts of energy policy, the current status and the structure of the energy resources in the world is displayed. Then some comments on the world’s power production are discussed, together with the power generation schemes and their environmental impact. Next, the forecasting of the evolution of the energy uses and its associated environmental impacts are considered. Last, both the situation of the world energy reserves as well as the prospects for its future development are described from an economic point of view.
