Abstract
Finland is one of the leading countries in the world in communications and networking technologies. Surprisingly last summer the radio astronomy institute of Helsinki University of Technology, Metsähovi Radio Observatory, located 35 km from the capital and outskirted by lakes and forests, became the first Finnish research center to install a 10 Gbps fiber optic connection. At the same time, Metsähovi was the first radio-observatory in the world to acquire a 10 Gbit connection.
