Sidenor Industrial has manufactu
red six very big Lower Shafts for the
Three Gorges Hydraulic Power Plant
in the Yangtze River at the Yichang
dam in China. As it is known, this will
be the biggest hydropower station all
over the world as the performance of
each generator set will be 840 MW.
The main challenges for SIDENOR
have been Forging and welding such
big components as well as machining
very large diameters (4120 mm).
All manufacturing operations,
whose detailed fabrication processes
are shown along the paper, were ca
rried out at SIDENOR REINOSA
Works.
