Infl uential factors on the oxidation stability of biodiesel: statistical study
Keywords:

• In this study the effect of the level of
oxygen pressure, the concentration of
antioxidant and the type of biodiesel
on the oxidative stability of the
material have been measured. An
experimental design was performed
considering two types of biodiesel,
various pressures of oxygen and
additions of a commercial antioxidant.
As a response variable was chosen
Oxidation Onset Temperature (OOT),
measured by Pressure Differential
Scanning Calorimetry (PDSC). It has
been found that the design that best
fi ts the data is the replicated main
effects model with three treatment
factors. The sequence of factors,
sorted in descending order according
to their infl uence in the OOT resulted
to be: Pressure > Type of biodiesel >
Antioxidant. It has been also observed
an interaction by mixing 50% by
weight of the two types of biodiesel,
which produces some deviation from
the expected linear behaviour.
