Considering the dwelling as the thermal protection for the development of the human activity, the evolution of the buildings as seen from their energy needs and environmental adaptation is briefly revised. • Then, after commenting concisely the energy role in the construction approach of outstanding contemporary authors, a higher co-operation of engineering is claimed as a must through the sustainable development of architecture and town planning
