Abstract

The tunnels located in the high speed

train line going from Cordoba to Ma

laga pass through karstics areas of

approximately one kilometer-long in

Valle de Abdalajís, in the municipality

of Alora (Malaga). During the cons

truction of the tunnel great infiltration

water flows were detected, causing

important soil draggings through dí-

verse fault areas. The adopted solu

tion was the construction of reinfor

cement rings with high resistance self

compacting concretes. The most dif

ficult areas have an 80 MPa resistan

ce value, as for the rest the values are

50MPa and 60 MPa.

The concrete was manufactured

in a plant property of Hormigones y

Minas S.A., located near the entrance

of the tunnels in a piece of land han

ded over by Adif for that purpose.

Hormigones y Minas made an in

vestigation with more than 130 doug

hies and 520 tests to determine the

most appropriate dosage and, as a

result, 22 formulas were found co

rrect. From these 22 formulas the

profiles for the materials to be used

for the manufacturing of the concrete

were obtained, having also present

technical and economical factors.
