METODOLOGÍA PROPUESTA PARA DETERMINAR LA LOCALIZACIÓN DE LA UNIVERSIDAD: UNA MIRADA DESDE LA INGENIERÍA INDUSTRIAL
Abstract
In this paper, a methodology to de
termine the optimal emplacement of
the state’s universities in regions is
proposed. To develop this methodo
logy, a comparison between universi
ties and productive organizations was
made. Materials, method, labor, and
equipment were defined as main lo
cation factors due to their relevant
role in the success of firms. The met
hodology shows a didactic procedure
that allows to easily identify, in each
main factor, other factors that affect
the university’s functions (location
secondary factors). Elements of qua
litative research, multi stages met
hod, and Brown-Gibson method are
integrated in the assessment of alter
natives. As result, a location model
and an integral methodology applica
ble to social investment projects is
obtained. This is an initial exploration
from the Industrial Engineering view
point, and it is subject to discussion
and analysis on the part of the aca
dernic community so that, with parti
cipation of other academic fields, this
methodology is improved and used.
