Abstract

The grid connection standards for the

connection to the grid of non–con

ventional source of energy are being

fixed all over the world. The fulfil

ment of the grid code requirements

requires from the wind turbine manu

facture to introduce new solutions

and the development of new control

strategies. These requirements are

mainly focused on: fault ride through

capability, reactive power capacity,

frequency control, voltage control,

active power curtailment and others.

The equipment affected by the new

requirements are the generator, the

transformer, the power electronic ele

ments, the electrical and mechanical 

protections, etc. The solutions ca

rried out by Gamesa Eolica are sche

matically presented in this paper.
