Abstract

The geometry of landslide and subsidence events is important  regarding the evaluation of their causes and the optimal decision  making towards an effective reconstruction of the structure.  Thus, different approaches have been taken for the measurement  of geometry following advances in technology. In this paper, an  Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) is used for the acquisition of  geometrical information, while GIS processing is applied to the geomorphological analysis of landslides in a slope built for the  construction of a road in Ourense, Northwest of Spain. The main advantage of the use of UAV is the high resolution data that can be  provided by these platforms, due to the possibility of flying closer  to the target than other aerial platforms. Consequently, these  platforms are validated for the study of land movements of local  scale, with the generation of surface roughness and flow direction  maps with the data acquired.
